Drawinginc was appointed to support the development of a citywide public awareness and behavioural change campaign addressing dog fouling in urban environments. The campaign sought to promote responsible dog ownership, reduce incidents of dog fouling, and highlight the wider public health, safety, and accessibility impacts of the issue on the community, including children, older people, wheelchair users, and families with prams. DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT SOLUTION Drawinginc developed a bold, highly visible campaign concept designed to perform effectively in busy public spaces while remaining appropriate for use across official local authority channels. A strong, icon-led visual system and concise messaging were created to ensure rapid comprehension and high recall. The campaign was rolled out across multiple formats, including posters, bus shelter advertising, park signage, digital and social media assets, bin stickers, and street stencils. A consistent visual identity and clear calls to action (“Bag it. Bin it.”) ensured coherence across all touchpoints while reinforcing the behavioural objective. UNIQUE CHALLENGES AND HOW THEY WERE OVERCOME A key challenge was addressing a sensitive and often emotive issue in a manner that encouraged positive behaviour change without alienating audiences. Drawinginc addressed this through carefully balanced messaging that combined direct, attention-grabbing headlines with a strong community and accessibility narrative. The use of universally recognisable iconography allowed the campaign to communicate impact quickly and inclusively, avoiding reliance on photography and ensuring suitability across multiple formats. All materials were designed to be adaptable, legible, and appropriate for review and approval within a local authority governance framework.
RESULT
The campaign delivered a cohesive suite of creative assets suitable for citywide deployment across physical and digital environments. The approach demonstrated drawinginc’s ability to develop behaviour-change communications that are bold yet responsible, scalable across channels, and aligned with public-sector communication standards.
